End-to-end interventions: stream\u2019s real superpower<\/span><\/span><\/h1>\n

With learning analytics evolving quickly and becoming the norm for higher education institutions, the question has moved from \u2018do I need\u00a0<\/span>engagement analytics\u00a0<\/span>software?\u2019 to \u2018which software helps me get the most from my data?\u2019<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Insight is only the beginning<\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n

Our conversations with institutions\u00a0emphasise\u00a0the importance of a system that\u00a0facilitates\u00a0both the data\u00a0insights\u00a0<\/span>and\u00a0<\/span><\/i>a space for\u00a0reporting &\u00a0escalation.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As Rachel Maxwell, Kortext Director of Sector\u00a0Engagement\u00a0and Academic\u00a0Research\u00a0observed,\u00a0\u201cinstitutions often assume\u00a0\u2018we\u00a0<\/span>need<\/span><\/i>\u00a0analytics \u2013 it\u2019s the fix,\u2019\u201d only to discover that data without follow\u00a0up,\u00a0doesn\u2019t\u00a0elicit change.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The impact\u00a0isn\u2019t\u00a0made through\u00a0observing\u00a0risk,\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0about being institutionally ready to respond to it.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Humans – not technology \u2013 are central to student success. The issues that students are facing,\u00a0can\u2019t\u00a0simply be dealt with on an automated basis. They\u00a0<\/span>need<\/span><\/i>\u00a0human interaction, the understanding that only comes from empathy and\u00a0lived\u00a0experience.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Many institutions take\u00a0a\u00a02-pronged approach\u00a0to engagement analytics, using stream to highlight the at-risk students,\u00a0then reinforcing that\u00a0with\u00a0teams\u00a0who proactively\u00a0contact students, rather than relying on\u00a0stream\u2019s\u00a0automated email alerts.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Crucially this approach reframed analytics as an enabler of support and not as a surveillance mechanism.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

For some institutions,\u00a0the challenge\u00a0is\u00a0less about detection and more about consistency. In these instances,\u00a0stream\u00a0can be used\u00a0as an opportunity to curate a shared reference point\u00a0for staff (and students \u2013 if enabled) across the university.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This approach ensures that teams across the institution can all see a unified pool of the same information, in the same place, eliminating data silos and facilitating a single source of truth.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
