The 12 study tips of Christmas
Have you 🎶 driven home for Christmas 🎶 yet?
Maybe you’re already:
🍫 Sneaking chocolate your family insists is for Christmas Day.
🏃 Dodging the ever-present question: ‘So, what are your plans after graduation?’
🧺 Clearing clutter from your room that your family has now decided is extended storage space.
Or maybe you’re not celebrating and instead are looking forward to a few chilled weeks away, catching up on Netflix and visiting friends or family you haven’t seen in a while.
Either way, we’ve put our heads together here at Kortext and have thought of 12 merry ways you can enjoy your time off without feeling like you’re getting behind.
1. Limit study time
They’re your holidays – enjoy them! Say yes to plans, spend time with family and watch those Christmas films guilt–free. Universities have breaks for a reason: they understand the value of rest, recuperation and self-care.
2. Gamify progress
Get creative – make a chart of eBook chapters or module topics and give yourself a stamp or tick once completed. If you’re anything like me, ticking tasks off is sometimes all the motivation you need!
3. Course mate collaboration
Are you and your uni friends worried about getting too carried away with festivities? Keep each other accountable. Create a study group on Kortext to share notes and resources so you all finish the holidays in a good position to start the new term.
4. Keep it light
Study doesn’t have to mean hours at your desk. Travelling on the bus, walking on the treadmill or watching a slightly dull film? Log in to Kortext on your phone and revisit a chapter or a flashcard deck anytime – whether you’re on- or offline. Short bursts of revision keep your knowledge fresh without feeling overwhelming.
5. Cosy study spot
Picture this: hot chocolate on your desk, laptop open showing a crackling fire on YouTube, Christmas songs playing softly and twinkling Christmas lights outside your window. With Kortext open on your iPad, studying suddenly feels very festive.
6. Holiday playlist
If music helps you focus, make it festive! Get Mariah on one tab and Kortext on the other, you’ll soon be tapping your foot all the way to your holiday goals.
7. Morning focus
Christmas evenings are packed with plans. Family meals, films or walks to see the lights. Mornings are quieter, so why not make them your study time? A little work early on means the rest of the day is free for festive fun.

8. Holiday journal
Reflect on what you’ve learned alongside your holiday memories to keep spirits high. Use the Workbooks feature on Kortext to log entries and look back on your progress once the break is over.
9. Stay active
Yes, it’s cold, but throw on a coat, scarf and gloves, and head outside! Fresh air boosts concentration and gives your eyes a break from screens. Plus, Christmas markets and lights make it extra enjoyable.
10. Mix up your reading
Balance academic reading with books for pleasure. Keep everything in one place with Kortext upload your Christmas reads to My Files or browse the Kortext store for your next holiday read.
11. Festive treats
Turned a page? Mince pie. Made a note? Quality Street. Generated a citation? Hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows. Okay I see your point, you might end up feeling a bit sick – but there’s no reason why you can’t reward yourself as you go with festive treats and activities!
12. Study advent calendar
Okay this one’s a little unconventional – might it ruin the tradition? It might. But if it gets you those grades in your January exams, it might just be worth it. One small study goal every day boxed up behind a fun little cardboard window – what’s not to love?
That’s it – you’ve reached the end of our 12 festive study tips! Now it’s time to enjoy your holidays.
We hope you have a wonderful winter break and look forward to seeing you in the new year.
