How can I log in to my Kortext account?

You can log in to your Kortext account through the sign-in page!

If your university is providing your eTextbooks, your login details will be sent to your university email address or access will be provided through your VLE.

You can also access your Kortext account by clicking ‘Sign up’ and ‘Sign up through your institution”. After selecting your institution, the authentication portal will open and you’ll be able to access your account.

Can I reset my password?

Yes, you can!

From our login page, you can select ‘Forgot password?’ and follow the instructions to receive an automated Password Reset email. If you do not receive a link to reset, check your spam inbox as it can sometimes end up there.

If you are still unable to access your account, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us via our support form.

I can’t find my eTextbook(s)?

Firstly, check that you are signing in with the correct email address (this is usually your university email address) and that you are accessing via the correct method. Further information on how to initially access your e-textbooks can be found here

If you have already done this and are still unable to see the books you are expecting, please contact us via our support form.

What is My files?

With My files you can upload your own files to Kortext and take advantage of Kortext’s functionalities.

My files support file types such as .pdf, .ePub, .xlc, .doc(x), and .ppt.

How can I highlight and make notes?

To highlight or make notes, click and drag your mouse across a section of text and an option box will appear. Here you can select different colours to highlight the text and click ‘Add note’ to make an annotation.

A list of your notes and highlights is available for reference by clicking on the symbol of a page and plus icon on the left-hand sidebar of the book’s page. If you click on one of the listed annotations, the book will open to the corresponding section of text.

Is there a read-aloud option available?

Yes, with the exception of the Mac app, we have a built in ‘Read-aloud’ option available through our app on Windows, Android, and iOS devices. You can select the section of text you would like to be read aloud to you, and from the option list which appears, select ‘Read Aloud’. Alternatively, if you click on the ‘Person symbol’ in the top-righthand corner of the screen, the entire page will be read aloud.

If you are accessing through the online reader, Kortext is compatible with the following external read-aloud software: NV Access, JAWS, TalkBack and VoiceOver.

Due to system limitations regarding publisher content, the Mac app does not currently offer the read-aloud functionality that all of our other apps do.

What's the Open Resources Collection (OER)?

The Open Educational Resources (OER) Collection is a set of free to access, online educational materials that you can use to support your learning.

These resources include textbooks and videos, all of which are available at no cost. The best part about OER is that you can access and use these materials whenever you need them, whether you’re studying for an exam, working on a project, or just trying to better understand a topic.
