A signing ceremony has taken place today, Tuesday 22nd January 2019, at Senate House, University of London between the British University Vietnam (BUV) and Kortext Limited (Kortext).

BUV has agreed to partner with Kortext in an institution-wide scheme that combines a world-leading digital content and personal study platform with digital learning content from the world’s leading educational publishers. The project will provide a digital-first learning experience for all BUV’s students by supplying digital content from publishers such as Pearson, Oxford University Press, Taylor & Francis, and Cambridge University Press, amongst others as students study for British degrees. The official launch of the partnership will be in April 2019, when BUV will become the first Higher Education institution in Vietnam, and one of the first in the ASEAN region, to provide its students with digital learning materials only.

Professor Ray Gordon, the Vice-Chancellor and President of BUV, said:

This partnership with Kortext aligns directly with BUV’s positioning and mission. The University is positioned as the University providing learning pathways that shape students for life and work in Vietnam and the region’s emerging digital economy.

The Chief Academic Officer and Founding Dean of BUV, Christopher Jeffrey, said:

BUV has embarked on an exciting expansion programme and has recently moved to a new “state of the art” EcoPark development campus near Hanoi that was officially opened in September 2018. The prioritisation of the students’ learning experience as they study for their British degree has underpinned this expansion to both attract the top students and to prepare these students for the modern digital workplace and to help them compete on a global basis. It is clear to see that digital delivery of, and access to, digital content would be integral to a modern student’s learning experience. We are delighted to have partnered with Kortext as their world-class digital content and learning platform will benefit every student.

James Gray, CEO and Founder of Kortext, said

This is a historic day. We are honoured and excited by this opportunity to deliver digital content to all students at BUV which is a first for the country of Vietnam. We see the ASEAN region as being of vital importance to Kortext and we are delighted that BUV has selected Kortext as their partner.

Ed Vaizey, Trade Envoy to Vietnam and Representative of the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom said:

I am also delighted to witness this historic signing and it builds on the already strong ties that BUV has with the world-class University of London. Anglo Vietnamese relationships are growing stronger year by year. In education, we have the best education system, the best universities, the best educational publishers and the best Edtech companies. In a post Brexit era, developing and building long term strategic relationships with countries such as Vietnam are vital for the long term future of the UK.
