Student Risk Report
Request a bespoke insight report highlighting your students who are currently at risk of early withdrawal as determined by the StREAM algorithm. You’ll also get an unambiguous proof point for the accuracy of the algorithm so that you can be 100% confident in undertaking student outreach based on the report.
Take the first steps in using data for student success and retention
Our insight reports use a small selection of your institution’s data to show what engagement looks like at cohort, course, module and individual level, and how intervention strategies could help improve retention and progression outcomes for your students. You’ll also receive a list of students currently matching the “at-risk” engagement profile so you can take action to support those students.
Our insight reports have shown that on average between 80-90% of students who went onto withdraw had previously been identified as low engagers, 6-8 weeks before withdrawal.

FAQs
What is a Student Risk Report?
A Student Risk Report (formerly known as a Data Foundry) is an opportunity to apply the StREAM engagement algorithm to a historical snapshot of your student data as a proof point in terms of accuracy at predicting those students who went on to withdraw and the point at which those students moved into a risk category, which shows the window of opportunity available to the university to offer support. We’ll also be able to provide you with a snapshot of students currently at risk.
Why request a Student Risk Report?
Financial sustainability is a priority challenge for every university right now amid a drop in international students, competition over domestic students, and rising costs putting additional pressure on the need to improve continuation rates.
StREAM has been proven to enable universities to improve their continuation rates and a Student Risk Report is the first step to using data to drive student success. You’ll be able to get a snapshot your students who are currently at risk of early withdrawal as determined by the StREAM algorithms. We will also provide you with an unambiguous proof point for the accuracy of the algorithm so that you can be 100% confident in undertaking your outreach.
What insights will it show?
You’ll be provided with insights on student engagement across the institution, from university down to faculty, department, subject and programme level. It will be possible to identify outliers in your data sets where engagement patterns differ from the norm (e.g. part-time study or distance learning courses), enabling you to pinpoint where to target limited time and resource to help academic programmes meet institutional and sector metrics around student success, continuation and retention.
If you wanted to receive more specific information, we can also filter data – for instance by widening participation and international students, depending on the data provided.
What can I do with the data?
You’ll be able to use the insights provided to enact targeted support to students in engagement categories deemed at risk. You can also understand what engagement looks like for your student cohorts and use the findings to support your business case for the full deployment of StREAM where student engagement data will be available to you in real time.
Can I do it just for my school or faculty?
Yes, a Student Risk Report can be undertaken on different business units.
How much of my time does it take?
Producing a quality Student Risk Report relies upon the university providing relevant data, but don’t worry we’ll be here to help guide you every step of the way when it comes to getting the right data. The minimum we require is the student record set for a full academic year and the activity data for the same students for the same academic year. VLE records are essential, but additional data points, such as library data, are also useful. We will provide a data definition document that details the format in which we need the data provided.
Some contextual information is also useful as this helps us to appropriately interpret your data for the presentation.
The presentation itself will take about an hour.
